I recently bought my first can of gold spray paint & since then I can’t seem to stop spray painting everything gold! I have even found myself walking around our little home trying to find more things that I can spray paint – Yes, it really is that fun! On one of these desperate wanderings I came across 2 bags of pinecones that I used last Christmas & decided that they needed a golden facelift!
I can’t wait till Christmas to display these Gilded Pinecone Place Cards on our sparkly gold & silver Christmas table. But I haven’t even told you the best part! These Gilded Pinecone Place Cards can double as New Years Eve decor as well! Just place them in front of your yummy New Year’s treats & top them with a little name tag. How fun is that?!
What you’ll need:
Gold Spray Paint – I used Rust Oleum 280724 American Accents Ultra Cover 2X Spray Paint, Metallic Gold
Gold Ink Pens or Printer
Hot Glue Gun & Glue – optional
Silver Swirl Ornament Hooks – optional
First, lay out your newspapers in a well ventilated area – preferably outside – & place your pinecones on top. Then give the pinecones a thorough coat of gold spray paint. Let dry according to the spray paint directions & then give them a second coat.
For the names I created a table in a word document & used Edwardian Script. Then I printed the names on card stock & cut them out.
As you can see from the pictures above I couldn’t decide between the simple look of just placing the card on top of the pinecone or the one with the silver swirl ornament hook holding the place card – so I made both!
To add the silver swirl ornament hook simply hot glue it to the inside of the pinecone.
Tip: Have a pinecone that won’t sit up straight? Just add a glob or two of hot glue to the uneven bottom of your pinecone & let dry.
