Since fall is almost here I thought I would recreate this old post & make this my newest Transformation Tuesday. I also changed the name from Glitter Edged Fall Leaves to Glittery Book Page Fall Leaves. I thought it is more descriptive, plus I like it better.
Not only did I change the name, but I also created new Glittery Book Page Fall Leaves using Mod Podge so that the glitter will not fall off.
So hopefully you will fall in love with these Glittery Book Page Fall Leaves just as I have all over again. I love the whole concept of something old & used being paired with something new & sparkly. I also love that I was able to create new fall decor from items I already had in my craft supplies.
Upcycling & repurposing with a hint of glitter is my weakness.
These Glittery Book Page Fall Leaves are so easy & so fun to create I even had a friend who did this craft with her students!
So without further ado, my original post with a whole new facelift!
Fall is such a magical time of year. There is just something so special about cool crisp air, gently falling leaves, and the knowledge that Christmas is just around the corner.
This DIY fall project combines some of my favorite crafting supplies – glitter and book pages – with one of my favorite aspects of fall – LEAVES! Seriously, what could be better than a fall diy project where you create glittery leaves, especially when it is so simple!
Side note: These are some of the original photos. They were taken just a few months after I got my camera & were edited in Picasa. It was definitely time for an update!
Highlighter or Pen
Cutter Bee Precision-Cut Scissors – these are my favorite scissors for precision cutting
Fine Glitter – I used Sugar Coating Metallic Glitter Assortment
First, place the leaf on a piece of book paper and use it to trace the shape. My leaf is black because I used the leftover leaves from my Fall Leaves Banner.
Remove the leaf and use the scissors to cut the traced leaf.
Don’t worry about trying to cut off all of the pen lines, the glitter will cover it up.
Continue this process until all of your book page leaves are traced & cut.
On your first piece of scrap paper apply the Mod Podge on the edges of the leaf. Then remove the leaf and place it on a different piece of scrap paper & sprinkle on the glitter.
Once the glue has dried shake off the excess glitter on the scrap paper & funnel it back into the glitter container.
Repeat on all of the book page leaves.
Then apply a thicker coat of Mod Podge on top of the glitter edge fall leaves & a second coat of fine glitter.
Once all of the leaves have a second coat of Mod Podge & glitter, & have dried thoroughly, apply a third & final coat of Mod Podge & let dry.
I’m sure once you’ve seen for yourself how pretty these Glittery Book Page Fall Leaves are you will find a million ways to use them to decorate this fall. Such as in a center piece, placed next to a fall picture, or hung on twine by mini clothespins!
I’d love to see your Glittery Book Page Fall Leaves!
