I know we just came back from spring break, but last weekend felt like a mini spring for us! A few months back Roger was informed that he was being considered for a Hinman Scholar. We were so excited! Roger studies so hard & is very dedicated to dental school & his future career & it felt like he was finally be recognized for all of his hard work. Two to three students from every dental school in the southeast are chosen for this award & when we found out Roger had been chosen we were ecstatic!
We were even more elated when we found out all that it entailed & after the amazing weekend we had we feel incredibly blessed & humbled by this wonderful honor!
Because we had so much fun we are already planning on going back to the Westin & the Hinman Convention sometime in the next few years.
Roger took Friday off so we could relax & get to Atlanta early. After a quick stop at Ikea we ate an early supper at Maggiano’s Little Italy & headed to our hotel. We were put up at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta (the tallest hotel in the southeast) & when we arrived we found out we were staying on the 52nd floor! The view was amazing (I only took a million pictures of it on my phone), especially since a whole wall of our room was just windows! I could have lived in that room forever!
The next day we headed to the convention center for the Hinman Scholar Luncheon, where Roger received a plaque (not the kind that’s bad for your teeth) & scholarship. After wandering around a little bit, & sampling the nice massage chairs at the convention center, we headed back to our dreamily spacious hotel room & spent the rest of the day enjoying the high life.
Side note: If you ever plan a trip to Atlanta & are looking for an amazing hotel I highly recommend you make a reservation at the Westin Peachtree Plaza & that you request a room on a high floor. You will not be disappointed! The lights at night are beautiful, the room was very spacious, & you are right in the middle of downtown. This was definitely the highest I have ever stayed in a hotel & we were both very sad to have to leave on Sunday.
We had planned on going for a walk in the little park below, but we were having too much fun up above. That evening we had pizza, bruschetta, & salad delivered to our room & then got ice cream enjoyed the city lights. Yes majorly obsessed with the lights.
But none of this could have happened if my husband wasn’t such an incredibly driven student & dedicated to our future!
I am so proud of you Roger Dale you are going to be the best dentist ever!
