My husband and I love the beach; if we could, we would definitely be living on a beach right now! Unfortunately, that is not possible, but what is possible is vacationing on the beach, even when on a tight budget! If you don’t have your own camping gear, try borrowing from friends or family – or just camp out under the stars! Here is a way to spend $100 for a Weekend Beach Getaway.
Camping ~ $50
A weekend trip to the beach can be very expensive, when staying at a nice hotel, that’s why we have discovered the joy of camping by the beach. So many national parks in the United States have camping grounds within walking distance from the beach.
Camping costs – on average – $25 dollars a night, while some national parks have a one-time entrance fee (between $5-10), but the beaches you get to relax on are well taken care of and are often not crowded.
Food ~ $40
When we go camping on the beach we try to keep our food pretty simple and we usually just bring whatever we have laying around the kitchen.
For breakfast we usually do eggs, veggie meat, and fruit one morning and pancakes, veggie meat, and fruit the second morning.
For lunches, we take snacks, carrots, celery, grapes, and chips and sometimes sandwiches.
Supper the first night we do the traditional camping food, hot dogs, baked beans, corn on the cob, and s’mores. The second night we usually go out for pizza or a local restaurant.
So if you are bringing most of your food from home ( ~ $20), and only going out one night ( ~ $20), you will be spending around $40 on food for the whole weekend – that’s 5 meals for 2 people!
Recreation ~ Free
You are at the beach, what more entertainment could you need! Bring a football, Frisbee, book, and sunscreen and you’ll be ready for a full day in the sun!
*** If you are not a big fan of the great outdoors but still want to save money on a weekend getaway to the beach, you should look into staying at a bed & breakfast. If you do your research you can find a beautiful b&b at a cheaper price than a nice hotel, plus you will get to enjoy a home cooked meal every morning!
