10 fall traditions that couples can enjoy year after year as their love continues to grow every season!
A few years back I created a festive list of 50 Fall Date Ideas. Ever since then I have created a new list for every season & a variety of holidays. Which I then combined into a new post last year with 300+ date ideas.
And while I love all of the ideas in the 50 Fall Date Ideas list I decided I wanted to create a condensed list this year. One that is particularly good for couples looking to create fall traditions that they can partake in every year to enjoy the season together.
Which is why I decided to create 10 Fall Traditions for Couples.
You will find that this list of fall traditions has some overlapping ideas from the 50 fall date ideas, but has been carefully curated in order to create adventures that you will want to repeat each year.
My hope is that you will fall in love with one or many of these fall traditions & that year after year you will create new memories from past traditions.
And maybe even someday (or even on the first time) you will be able to include your children in some of these special memories that began as traditions for you.
I tried to create a variety of fall tradition ideas so that whether you love hiking or baking you will find a fun & festive fall tradition, you both love & can enjoy together.
Luckily, you have all fall to create new traditions & memories, so if can’t agree on just one you could do 2 or 3 or even all 10 fall traditions!
1. Apple &/or Pumpkin Picking
A special day date picking apples or searching for the perfect pumpkin ending with dinner at a local restaurant that serves seasonal specials.
2. Rent a Cabin or Go Camping
Spend a weekend out in nature with campfires, s’mores, hot chocolate, hiking, biking, horseback riding, & counting the falling leaves.
3. Baking Day
Spend a day creating fall baked goods. You could bake one thing from each of your childhoods, & then something new that you’ve never tried creating before.
4. Lost in Fall
Create a homemade picnic (or purchase prepared picnic food) along with apple cider & hot chocolate kept warm in a thermos & drive until you find the perfect spot for a picnic. After your yummy picnic, bask in the warmth of the fall sun while listening to the cool breeze swirl the leaves around you.
5. Corn Maze Adventure
Find a local corn maze & try to find your way through without a map, directions, or help. And if you are extra brave, try to do it at night. Don’t forget to end the adventure with a sweet treat that will warm you up!
Also, some corn mazes have other activities on their property as well, like pumpkin picking, bobbing for apples, & hot apple cider.
6. Fall Day Date Out
This is a more casual fall tradition that you can do a few times throughout the season. Begin with a little shopping for season fashion trends, then enjoy an early dinner with seasonal specials, & end with a fall blockbuster special.
And to make this really special find a drive in-movie theater & snuggle up in blankets with cups of seasonal hot chocolate to go from your favorite coffee shop.
There are two fun fall football traditions you can create. One is by going to a football game to cheer on your favorite team. Another option is to go to your favorite team’s practice.
We haven’t done this one yet, but my brother (in-law) & his wife have gone several times & they always come back encouraging us to go. The last time they went there were only a few hundred people there & they got a few signatures from different team members.
8. Fall Focused
Grab your cameras, lenses, & a tripod for a day of capturing the beauty of fall forever. You could even bring along some props, like a blanket, pumpkins, or a thermos of hot apple cider. And don’t forget to bring some snacks & to stop for a picnic or lunch at a local joint wherever the fall leaves blow you.
9. Fall Fair
Search online for fall fairs & festivals in your area & spend the day trying new foods & rides while listening to the sound of folk music mixed with rustling leaves.
10. Fall Vacation
Whether you prefer a staycation or traveling far away, fall vacations are wonderful! You can travel up north to enjoy the most vibrant of falls or somewhere tropical to catch a few last drops of sun before winter.
