5 tips for staying healthy while traveling throughout the country and around the world.
Want to hear something ironic?
This post was written and scheduled to go live on March 22, 2020…
These 5 tips were meant to be general advice to help you stay healthy when traveling.
But when the whole world shut down I pulled this from my schedule with the hopes that I’d be able to share it in a month or two.
And here we are at the end of September and I decided to finally just go ahead and post it before I completely forget about it.
So without further ado, here is the original post (with the added note to *wear a mask*) that was set to go live before the pandemic.
Getting sick while traveling is the worst!
You may spend months (even a year) planning for a vacation only to be brought down by a cold mid-trip.
While I always like to travel prepared in case one of us gets sick (I pack basic medications just to be safe), there is nothing like taking preventative measures to avoid getting sick so that you can enjoy your vacation to the utmost!
So today I thought I’d share with you my top 5 tips to help you avoid getting sick while traveling.
1. Avoid Touching Your Face
Avoid spreading germs to your face by not touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
This is a big one and most of us don’t even realize we are doing it!
*Wear a mask*
2. Drink Water
Drinking water is not only important for staying hydrated, but it can also help you stay healthy by keeping your immune system strong.
Plus, choosing water over sugary drinks is a great way to help avoid catching a cold while traveling.
3. Keep Your Hands Clean
Getting in the habit of washing your hands regularly at home will make it easier to keep your hands clean when you travel.
Rinsing your hands isn’t enough, be sure to wet your hands and then apply/scrub your hands with soap for 15-20 seconds, before washing away the soap/germs with water.
Sometimes washing your hands isn’t possible, so be sure to travel with hand sanitizer (and back up hand sanitizer) to use after touching things like doors, handles, or anything else in public areas.
4. Get Plenty of Sleep
Getting enough sleep while traveling (especially when in a different time zone) can be difficult, but it’s very important to reach that REM cycle and let your body have some good rest before another fun day of travel.
When we travel we always take adult sleep supplement gummies to help us sleep better at night.
5. Disinfect as You Go
Using sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer as you go is a great way to avoid germs and help prevent yourself (and others) from getting sick while traveling.
Some important things to disinfect while traveling includes airplane TVs/tray tables, hotel light switches as well as the tv controller, and your phone.
***Bonus tip: One more way to help prevent getting sick while traveling is to take immunity supplements leading up to and during your trip.
Currently, this one is my favorite.
I tried it after my sister recommended it to me and I love it!
