A home tour of our first house before any renovations or updates, named by the original owner, “A Little Piece of Heaven.”
We’ve been living in our first house for almost 8 days now & boy has it been an adventure!
Here is the view of our entryway from the living room.
Oh & I’ll be coming back through this post to add links to renovation posts as they become available.
Roger thinks I edited these pictures too nicely, which might be true since the walls are a little creamier, but I couldn’t help myself I love fresh clean colors!
The day after we closed we walked into our living room & I noticed a nail with sheetrock on it laying on the ground. I quickly realized it fell from the ceiling & when I looked up I discovered there are quite a few nails ready to pop out & fall on our heads!
But on a positive note I’m in love with these windows in our living room. And the view is breathtaking, especially at sunset & dusk, which is why the first owner (we bought the house from her sons) lovingly called this property “A Little Piece of Heaven.”
I set up an Instagram account to share pictures of our view, plus it’s a nice little reminder when renovations are chaotic of one of the reasons we bought this house.
Although you can read more of why we bought this house in my post Why We Bought a House We Did Not Want.
I took these pictures before we closed on the house so there are a few pictures with pieces of furniture left behind.
Also, note the bathroom has a lovely large entry, but no doors.
We will be adding french doors in the very near future!
I debated whether or not I should share this next bit with you, but since I am going for honesty I thought I will confess that I cried while cleaning this shower. I know it’s silly, & there are real problems in the world, but it can be a little overwhelming when you just spent the most money you will ever spend in your life in a single moment (day, week, month, year, decade, lifetime) & the shower/tub changes colors as you clean it.
Granted the house has been empty for years, but it doesn’t help that I’m a bit of a germaphobe.
We have to keep an eye on these windows because we noticed before we moved in that the one on the left sometimes leaks when it rains.
We have already started renovating this half bath, the sink is out & the tiles are gone (expect right under the toilet) & today I will be painting the walls Rogue Blue. This is the same color as the two accent walls in our basement, which I have shared many pictures of on SnapChat!
This washer & dryer were crazy heavy to remove!
This room will be one of the first renovation posts I will be sharing & I’m super excited about it.
We have some exciting plans for this room & the kitchen! Right now the gorgeous table Roger built us (along with our washer & dryer) are taking up all the space, but in a couple of months we are going to begin some big renovations in here!
Notice the rotary phone on the wall agains the pantry? Cute right!?
Oh & during our third use of the oven/stove Roger heard a loud noise, the red light turned off, & since then we haven’t been able to cook or bake.
It’s beginning to feel like we are in the movie “The Money Pit” with Tom Hanks!
Here’s a little look at the family room, with a slightly more realistic editing. You can see a little of the warmness of the wall color as well as a hint of the screened porch!
There are two bedrooms upstairs, this is the larger of the two with a view of the sunrise & the sunset!
This might be the craziest & most epic room in our house.
It is a small room with simply a bathtub. What’s crazy is that it is literally hanging off the side of the house (with nothing below it) 4 stories up! Scary right?
Luckily there are steel beams running underneath of the tub!
Along with the special bathtub room there is also a full bathroom upstairs.
And finally the basement. Aka Roger’s room.
Oh & I should note there is going to be a lot of geeking out in this room. Think lots of Star Trek paraphernalia!!
And there is also this little room in the basement that we are going to turn into an exercise room, because you know, I’m a huge workout buff! Ha! But hopefully this room will encourage me to become healthier!
Any who! I hope you enjoyed this little tour!
Once Roger begins working in a few weeks I’ll be back to full time blogging. And since we are doing as many little & semi-big projects right now as we can there will be a lot renovation posts coming your way very soon & throughout the fall!
