These Apple Cider Floats are made from special fall ingredients & are a perfect way to enjoy the flavors of fall as the weather begins to cool!
Fall is filled with traditions for our little family.
They are a combination of traditions from Roger’s childhood, my childhood, & some that we began during our first year of marriage.
Having both grown up right outside of Chattanooga we also have a lot of the same fall family traditions. Some of these shared traditions include driving through Cades Cove on Saturday afternoons with the windows down munching on fall snacks, biking & picnicking in the Chickamauga Battlefield, visiting local apple orchards for fresh apples, going camping, & eating s’mores!
Is it just me or do you sense a pattern too?
Our fall memories & traditions have a tendency to involve food!
Go figure!
This might explain why I like to begin fall on the first day of August.
While I have thought it was because summer felt long gone since Roger begins school in the middle of July, or because I have a tendency to slowly begin incorporating Christmas in October (oh let’s be honest) September & I want to make sure that fall is given it’s due celebration & enjoyment, I think the truth is I love fall food!
Which completely explains my cravings for pumpkin spice cookies all summer long!
So now that I have analyzed my love for fall, & shared one more of my many quirky behaviors with you, I think it’s time we turn our attention to these Apple Cider Floats!
This recipe is a direct result from one of the above mentioned fall traditions. After a recent trip to a local Tennessee apple orchard we came home to Birmingham with tons of fresh apples & apple cider!
We also have way too many little bottles of Martinelli Sparkling Apple Cider thanks to Costco, & since the weather seems to be determined to stay in the mid to upper 80’s (even though we are well into October), it was only logical that we make Apple Cider Floats!
What’s great about this recipe for Apple Cider Floats is that it uses both traditional apple cider & sparkling apple cider! So you get the freshness of local apple cider & the sparkling bubbles that are normally associated with the traditional root beer float.
Of course this recipe wouldn’t be complete without being topped with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, an apple slice, & a drizzle of caramel sauce. I love toppings!!
