This morning I woke up heartbroken.
My body doesn’t know how to have a dreamless sleep, so night after night I have a myriad of dreams, mostly nightmares.
But last night was one of the worst.
Instead of being chased by faceless monsters or teased by high school bullies I was bombarded with dream after dream of foster care children who were desperate for acceptance & love by a carrying family.
The tears are beginning to flow just thinking of it.
Because sadly these aren’t just nightmares but a living reality all around us.
I understand that foster care & adoption isn’t right for every family, but those aren’t the only ways you can help.
As Christians, we have a real responsibility to those who are suffering around us.
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27
God doesn’t call everyone to adopt, but He does charge us to help & there are so many ways we can be a good servant & a champion to those in need.
A few include connecting your church with an orphanage overseas, donating your time or money to an adoption fundraiser, & being extra supportive of those in your church & community who are adoptive or foster care families.
I know this was a little bit of a different type of devotional, but as this is a spiritual matter I knew you all would understand & be ok with something a little different today.
I hope you have a blissful weekend!
