These Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties are the perfect combination of creamy peppermint coated in dark chocolate. Plus they are easy to create and make perfect gifts!

These Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties have become a new favorite sweet treat in our family!
I made them earlier this year and they were an instant hit, especially with my father.
I then made them again earlier this week as a Thanksgiving night treat to begin the Christmas season.
Since I had already made them once for my family I knew exactly how they liked them best, with a double coat of dark chocolate!

This recipe is only 4 ingredients and is crazy easy to make, which means you can customize them to every family member’s personal taste!
Some people prefer a thin layer of peppermint and double-dipped in the dark chocolate while others like a thick layer of peppermint and only one coat of dark chocolate.
And since this recipe is so easy to create you can make a bunch of them with different thicknesses of creamy peppermint and as many layers of dark chocolate as you want!
To make them extra pretty you can add a drizzle of dark chocolate, a sprinkle of edible glitter, or even some crushed candy canes!

I gifted some to my husband’s family too and everyone kept saying how good they were and asking if they were hard to make.
You will get so many compliments on this super simple Christmasy sweet treat and everyone will think you are a master candy maker with this 4 ingredient Christmas dessert!

Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties
These Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties are the perfect combination of creamy peppermint coated in dark chocolate. Plus they are easy to create and make perfect gifts!
- Prep Time: 1 hour
- Cook Time: 1 hour chill time
- Total Time: 2 hours
Ingredients
- 3/4 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 & 1/2 Teaspoons Peppermint Extract
- 4 Cups Powdered Sugar + 2–4 Teaspoons Extra Powdered Sugar
- 10 Ounces Dark Chocolate Melting Chips
Instructions
- First, combine the 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk and 1 & 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract in a bowl and beat well.
- Slowly add in the 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, until a dough forms and it is no longer sticky.
- Sprinkle 2-4 teaspoons of extra powdered sugar on your counter and roll the dough out so that it is approximately 1/8-1/4 of an inch thick.
- Use a small cookie cutter to cut the peppermint dough into peppermint patties and place them on a cookie tray lined with wax paper.
- Freeze the peppermint patties for one hour or until thoroughly chilled.
- Next, melt the dark chocolate according to the packaging instructions and use a fork or tongs to dip the peppermint patties in the chocolate, one at a time, letting the excess chocolate drip off, and then place them back on the wax paper.
- You will want to work fast and in small batches so that the peppermint patties don’t melt in the chocolate. I usually keep them in the freezer and only pull out a little at a time to dip in the chocolate.
- For a thicker chocolate coating, let the chocolate harden before dipping them in chocolate a second time (you may need more chocolate for a second coating).
- Let cool and set thoroughly and enjoy! *
Notes
- If you have any extra chocolate you can drizzle it on top. Or even add sprinkles/crushed candy cane on top before the coating of chocolate dries thoroughly.
I hope you enjoy your Dark Chocolate Peppermint Patties!
