For a little while now I have seen pictures floating around the internet of some adorable Apple Candle Holders. When I took a closer look I realized they were all using real apples. Now don’t get me wrong real is normally better than fake, but what’s the point of making something out of food that you can’t eat and that won’t last more than a few days at most?
So since real apples obviously weren’t going to last as decor on my mantle all season I thought I would make a run to the Dollar Tree and see what their artificial apples looked like. My plan was to buy a few and then repaint them if need be, but I ended up liking the ones I bought so they stayed their original shade of apple red.
I absolutely love how they turned out and later today I will Instagram a picture of where they are displayed right now as I make the transition from summer to fall decor in our home.
What you’ll need:
Tea Light Candles
Taper Candle – same color as the tea light candles
Fine Point Sharpie

First, outline the shape of the candle on the apple with a fine point sharpie.
Next, use the X-acto knife to cut out the shape of the candle and dig out the styrofoam so that the candle will fit nicely inside.
You can either take the candle out of it’s metal holder or just place the whole thing right into the apple.
*Note: If you do decide to remove the candle from the metal holder just remember that the wax will melt down into the styrofoam apple.
I like my candles to stick out of the apple a little so I removed the metal holder and then placed the candle in the apple.
Light a candlestick, place it over the apple, and allow the wax to drip down the sides of the apple.
*Note: Don’t let the candlestick get too close to the apple because it could burn the artificial apple.
Repeat the above process until all of your Apple Candle Holders look just the way you want them!
I just love that these DIY Apple Candle Holders will not only last all season but also many more autumns to come simply by replacing the tea candles as needed!
