A DIY fire pit that you can make in less than one day to enjoy all summer and fall!

We’ve dreamed of adding a fire pit to this outdoor space for a couple of years and this year we finally completed it!
Finding beautiful black wood outdoor chairs at a good price was a bit difficult, but we finally found some on sale for well under $100 each.
Major score!
Especially because a lot of the ones we found were double or well over double that cost.
And those planters were a super exciting find!
I love concrete planters, but I didn’t have time to find plastic planters to recreate these DIY Faux Concrete Planters.
So I was so excited when we found these planters that look like concrete but without being heavy or expensive.
We love this new outdoor space so much!
And we’ve already enjoyed many an afternoon and evening around our new fire pit making family memories.

Materials (clickable list):
Stone Pebbles (we bought ours locally but these are similar)
Retaining Wall Stone – used for fire pit
Patio Stone – around the pebbles
Tutorial:
First, measure the area for the fire pit and seating area. Then weed-eat and cover the area in landscape fabric. Ours is 14 feet in diameter.
Note: If it’s windy it can help to add some of the small pebbles on the landscape fabric to keep it from blowing away as you lay it out.
Next, stack the retaining wall stone to create a fire pit in the center of the space. Our fire pit is 40 inches in diameter and 12 inches tall.
Then add the stone pebbles on top of the landscaping fabric (both in and around the fire pit) and patio stone around the edges.
Finally, add wood to the fire pit and decorate it with chairs, planters, and plants.
Enjoy!
Note: I recommend keeping water and/or a fire extinguisher nearby for safety and emergency purposes when lighting fires and be sure to never leave a fire unattended.
