DIY $1 Painted Pumpkins for cheap and easy fall decor for your home.
Last year I couldn’t decide what colors I wanted to decorate with for the first fall in our new home.
I had muted fall tones and lots of neutrals in our kitchen and then slowly transitioned the colors and vibrancy as you moved through the house into our living room.
This year I rearranged everything and decided to add both muted neutral fall tones, as well as, pastel fall colors.
One of the least inexpensive ways to do this is with DIYS!
(Like this tutorial for DIY Neutral Fall Acorns.)
So I decided to buy cheap pumpkins to decorate our home.
This little DIY only cost $8 for 8 pumpkins by using sticks for pumpkin stems and repurposing the leaves off of faux flower stems I already had for the pumpkin leaves.
This was such a fun and easy project and would be so much fun to do with kids!
I’m thinking of getting some more pumpkins and kids paint next time I’m running errands and keeping them tucked away to do as a fun rainy day activity once we get foster care placements this fall.
They would make fun fall gifts for parents, grandparents, or teachers.
You could use them as fall decor on a tablescape or even as place card holders on each plate!
I’ll be sharing my fall home tour next week, so be sure to check back to see how I decorated with these pretty painted pumpkins!
1. First, mix the paint to your desired color on a paper plate then paint the top 3/4 of the pumpkin.
2. Let dry, then paint the lower 1/4 of the pumpkin.
3. Let dry and repeat the above process for a 2nd or even 3rd coat if desired.
4. Once the paint is thoroughly dried, poke a hole in the top of the pumpkin (with the stick) and hot glue the stick into the hole.
5. Then hot glue the faux leaves onto the top/center of the pumpkin next to the stem. Let cool/dry.
Have fun decorating!
