I love ricotta cheese, and I especially love Herbed Ricotta Cheese. This recipe makes 1 cup of delicious Herbed Ricotta Cheese that can be used in a variety of ways, for lasagna, stuffed into shells, rolled up in zucchini, or in homemade ravioli.
What you’ll need:
½ cup ricotta cheese
1 tsp fresh thyme
1 heaping teaspoon fresh chopped teaspoon basil
½ teaspoon fresh oregano
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
¼ cup Gouda cheese
¼ cup mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon creamy havarti cheese
1 small pinch of salt
1 dash of pepper
1/8 teaspoon dried basil
If you do not have fresh herbs you can easily substitute them for dried herbs – with the basil then being about 1 ¼ teaspoons.
Also, if you are not a big fan of one or more of the above cheeses you could easily swap it out for what you like. For example, if you do not like gouda cheese you could add more mozzarella or more creamy havarti cheese.
First, measure out ½ cup of ricotta cheese and place in a bowl.
Remove the thyme from the stems, chop the basil and oregano down to the size of the thyme, and mix the herbs into the ricotta cheese.
Next, add the parmesan, gouda, mozzarella, and creamy havarti cheese mixing well.
Finally, mix in a small pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and 1/8 teaspoon of dried basil.
All that is left is to decide how you want to use your delicious Herbed Ricotta Cheese!
