Roger has been making it for us for years.
Both his mom and my mom always request that he makes it when we are joining them for an Italian Sabbath lunch.

Oh, and the secret ingredient… Nutmeg!
It elevates this alfredo sauce in a way that will have you and your family coming back for seconds and dare I say thirds!

Creamy Alfredo Sauce
This homemade Creamy Alfredo Sauce is our family’s favorite. It’s super simple and has a secret ingredient you may not expect!
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 25 minutes
- Yield: Serves 8–10 people 1x
Ingredients
- 16 Tablespoons Salted Butter
- 3/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 Quart Heavy Whipping Cream
- 2 Cups Packed Parmesan, freshly grated *(1)
- 1/4 Cup Cream Cheese, cubes/chunks
- 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
Garnish
- Salt
- Black Pepper
- Fresh Parsley, chopped
Instructions
- First, melt 16 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet. Then add the 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon black pepper.
- At medium heat, whisk in the 1-quart heavy cream. Let simmer for 3-5 minutes, whisking continuously.
- Turn the heat to low and whisk in the 2 packed cups of grated parmesan and 1/4 cup of cream cheese in chunks. Continue whisking continuously.
- Then whisk in the 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and add salt and pepper to taste
- Turn the heat up to medium while continuing to whisk. Once bubbling (not boiling), remove from heat, pour over pasta, top with garnish, and enjoy!
Notes
- The quality and type of parmesan you use for your sauce will affect the taste. High-quality parmesan that you grate yourself will give this alfredo the best flavor.
I hope you enjoy your Creamy Alfredo Saucea!
