How to stay at a 5-star resort for free by doing what you already do on a daily basis!
Roger & I love the thrill of staying at 5-star resorts for free.
We travel quite a bit, so staying somewhere extra nice for no price is extremely wonderful on our wallets and super enjoyable for us!
We did this for the first time in January 2017 in Maui, & we just did this again at the end of last month in Cancun, where we stayed at a 5-star resort that was all-inclusive & right on the beach!
Or should I say two beaches, as it was located at the point of a peninsula in Cancun. Either way, the water was gorgeous!
We hadn’t been to an all-inclusive resort since our honeymoon in 2012 & after this last trip, I’m not sure why we waited so long to go again?
Food & drinks at your fingertips at any time is pretty much my dream come true (especially when the food and drinks are very good) & bonus, we didn’t even have to pay for the resort stay at all!
And you can too!
So how did we do it? Just by signing up for a credit card to cover our normal day-to-day expenses and then pay it off 100% before the statement ends (thus incurring no interest penalties).
For this trip, we could choose from an array of Hyatt properties around the world & we chose to stay at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun which is one of their few all-inclusive resorts with 5 stars.
We wanted to get the best use out of our free nights so we decided that an all-inclusive resort was the best way to go for this trip.
Our long weekend getaway was incredibly inexpensive because we used our two free Hyatt nights/points that we received by signing up for the Hyatt Credit Card & then spending a certain amount during a designated amount of time after getting the credit card.
Once we had completed this we spent some time researching Hyatt resorts to see which one fit within our travel dates, distance, & desired locations.
We quickly decided upon Hyatt’s Ziva Cancun, which had an $85 million renovation in the last couple of years & was only about a 2 and a half hour flight from Atlanta!
And plane tickets are not that bad to Cancun ranging from $300-400 round trip depending on when your flight leaves during the day, and the time of year.
Since we already shared all of the details of our long weekend getaway in this post here, I won’t reshare everything here.
I will say, however, that we loved it so much we are already discussing how we can work it into our travel plans again this year, or early next year! It’s just so incredibly convenient from ATL.
Yes, once we fall in love with a little piece of paradise we have a really hard time going anywhere else. Which is probably why we visited Maui 3 times in 18 months.
Speaking of Maui, Hyatt’s Andaz is also a 5-star resort for which you can use your free nights/points.**
We stayed at the Andaz during our first trip to Maui & fell in love with the modern luxurious atmosphere of their hotel as well.
There are a whole list of benefits that come along with signing up for the Hyatt Credit Card, but I’m going to share my top 3 favorites
1. 40,000 Bonus Points
The Hyatt Credit Card offers you 40,000 bonus points after you spend $2,000 on purchases with the Hyatt Credit Card in the first 3 months from account opening.*
What’s awesome is that free nights start at 5,000 points a night! Which means that you could have up to 8 free nights just with your bonus points, depending on which Hyatt property(s) you choose to stay at!
2. An Additional 5,000 Bonus Points
Want more bonus points? Once you add the first authorized user to your account & make a purchase within 3 months of opening your account you will receive an additional 5,000 bonus points!
3. Free Night Every Year
That’s right! You will receive a free night award every year after your cardmember anniversary at any Category 1-4 hotel or resort. Yay for continued loyalty!
The Hyatt Credit Card also has something special called their Discoverist Status which you will have for as long as your Hyatt Credit Card account is open. Some of these perks include
- 10% Bonus Points
- Premium Internet
- 2 p.m. late check-out upon request at participating locations
- A bottle of water daily
- And much more!
But it doesn’t end there, they have even more benefits for Explorist & Globalist members. You can even reach Lifetime Globalist status!
And like I mentioned above, you will receive even more benefits than I have shared here, but I wanted to share my favorite perks for signing up for a Hyatt Credit Card.
With love, Giustina
not reluctantly or under compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver.
