I am so incredibly excited! I’m getting a new sister! These lovelies started dating in high school & are now finishing up their final year of college before tying the knot. My brother (in-law) finally asked Katie to marry him & now we are diving head first into planning her dream wedding for May 2015! Oh yeah & she asked me to be her wedding planner!
I know I have already shared some wedding DIY’s, advice, & food ideas, but I thought that now that I am helping my future sister to plan her special day I would share the whole process with you – step-by-step – in a wedding series. There is so much that goes into planning a wedding & it can be so hard to stay on budget, but I wanted to show you just how easy it is to stay on budget, save money, & do it yourself – while still having your dream wedding!
Right now nothing has been finalized so I don’t have any wedding plans or ideas to share yet, but I wanted to let you know what is going to be happening over the next several months on Domestically Blissful. Basically you will be getting a behind the scenes look of how to plan a beautiful dream wedding, while not breaking the bank, with lots of tips, advice, & DIY projects!
One of the first things you need to do when you get engaged is to find a location & put a deposit down so that your date & venue will be saved for your wedding. I know that seems pretty basic, but it can be easy to forget to put down a deposit. I know of a bride who missed this step & about 5 weeks before her wedding she found out that the venue they had chosen had, had some turnover in staff, & since they hadn’t put a deposit down their was no record & their venue had been booked for someone else’s wedding, which left them scrambling for a new venue at the last minute.
So if you are newly engaged take the time to find your venue & don’t forget to pay the deposit so that your name will be in their records & you can plan your wedding with a little less stress.
After spending hours searching online & making phone calls we have narrowed down the options to a few venues, she will be visiting them over the weekend, & hopefully by next Wednesday I will be able to happily report that a venue has been chosen.
So the tip I will leave you with today is that the first wedding planning step you should take after getting engaged is to start searching for your dream venue & once you have found it don’t forget to put down a deposit to ensure you get your dream wedding!
