Before I get to our fun family weekend update I just want to thank you all for supporting my blog & following along on Facebook. I also want to congratulate Michelle for winning Domestically Blissful’s Facebook Thank you Giveaway!
This weekend we headed up to Tennessee for my sister-to-be’s wedding shower & to spend time with family. On Saturday we drove to a christian camp that I grew up going to as child to hear my father-in-law preach. Afterwards Roger & I took a little nature walk around the lake where I found the first butterfly of the season, many blooming flowers, & a beautiful view. We then headed to the Miller’s home for lunch with both of our growing families & some friends.
Although I loved walking around the lake with Roger I must admit the highlight of my day was spending time with baby Willow. I don’t get to see my nieces & nephews near enough, but when I do I try to spend as much time with them as possible. I have major baby fever!
I don’t know if I have ever mentioned this before, but my mother-in-law raises & breeds the most beautiful cats on their farm. And I couldn’t help but snap a picture of these cuties while they snoozed in the warm spring sun Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday our church threw my sister-to-be Katie’s wedding shower. I can’t believe we are only 6 weeks away from the wedding!
Of course anytime their is an event that we are asked to make something we stick to our favorites. So I made Dark Chocolate Strawberry Scones with Strawberry Drizzle & Chas made lemon cake pops with these adorable flowers that she found at Wholesale Sugar Flowers – aren’t they adorable?!
The wall dividers were used at Chas’s wedding some years back & she recently painted & distressed them for Katie’s upcoming wedding. For the wedding shower we hung a collage of pictures of the happy couple throughout the years for everyone to enjoy.
Don’t they make the sweetest couple? Their babies are going to be adorable!
Even one of the flower girls – Ellie – got in on the wedding shower fun.
The lovely bride & her bridesmaids.
While I was enjoying a beautiful wedding shower Roger Dale was being a wonderful son & brother. He helped mow his parents yard – farm yard – & then headed over to the house his sister is building to help lay some hardwood floors. Before heading back to Birmingham I got a few more precious snuggles in with Willow while the family played football.
On our way home that evening we got to talking about our future. With only 8 weeks left of school this year, & one year left of dental school, a lot of decisions are to be made & many things are about to change. It is becoming increasingly hard to leave Tennessee after each short trip. I love the Chattanooga area so much & can not wait for us to move back there, but we want to make sure that wherever we move next we are following God’s will in our lives. <3
