A little Life Lately to share our Housewarming Gathering that we had last weekend with our family.
This last weekend we excitedly had our family over for a little housewarming gathering. Roger’s sister Michelle & her family are back in town (from AFRICA!!) visiting for a few weeks & we were eager to have them over. But of course we also wanted to have our whole family over as well!
The only problem is that our house is falling apart a little more each week. If you are following along, either through subscription, Facebook, or Snapchat, then you probably already know that we don’t have a fully functional kitchen. Which is crazy difficult for anyone, but especially for someone who is excited to be home & desperately wants to entertain her family!
So since our stove/oven went kaput, it literally made a blowing up sound, we had to get creative with our meal.
So I made this quick & super delicious Black Bean & Corn Salsa that I found on Hidden Valley‘s website. Along with the delicious food & dessert our family brought, we made quesadilla’s on an electric griddle, & I made Creamy Avocado Ranch Sauce in a blender.
Even without a real kitchen we were able to put together a yummy meal & I ate way more than I should disclose!
Even though we don’t have a fully functional kitchen, we do have this fun screen porch that connects to the family room, kitchen, & living room that is perfect for my 11 nieces & nephews to play on while the “grumps” eat & talk.
I have gathered together two big baskets full of crafts & toys that I bring down anytime they come over & they are welcome to “destroy” this room as much as they want. I actually made the mistake of using the word “destroy” once, but luckily they are all really well behaved & are really good at “playing” the clean up game.
It’s beyond wonderful to be able to gather with our family anytime we want now that we are back in our hometown. We try to gather as much as possible, sometimes with a reason, but usually just so that we can spend time together.
My nieces & nephews are growing up so fast & I want to make as many memories as I can with them before they are all grown up. Plus I need as much baby snuggles as I can get! Luckily there are 11 of them all under 9 so there are lots of memories to be made together.
We have even started planning a tea party for the nieces!
I greatly encourage you to carve out some time in your busy life to Gather Now with your family & friends to create memories & deepen friendships. There is no time like the present to enjoy the company of those whom you love & cherish!
