Roger & I have been eating a lot more waffles recently than we have in the past. He has this amazing recipe that I am constantly begging him to make for me (& will eventually share with you). Sometimes I even go to the store to pick up the extra ingredients we will need just so that he’ll have to make them for me! Sneaky right?
The only thing about making waffles is that he insists on adding powdered sugar on top to make it look more professional – & who doesn’t love powdered sugar on top of everything? However he never seems to be able to find the powdered sugar. He even recently opened a brand new bag right after I had refilled our powdered sugar container – lets just say I now have a whole lot of powdered sugar to eat.
So to make life easier for him & myself – I can’t always keep a close eye on him when he is in the kitchen – I thought I would make this Mason Jar Powdered Sugar Shaker! Plus I needed another container for all of that powdered sugar!
Materials Needed:
Mason Jar with Lid & Canning Ring
A Small Clean Nail
Hammer
Cork Board or Crafting Cutting Board
Powdered Sugar
Extra Mason Jar Lid – optional
First, clean & dry your old mason jar with its lid & canning ring. Than place the lid on a cork board & hammer little holes into the top using your small nail & hammer. To see some examples of this check out these other posts: Mason Jar Toothpick Dispenser & Chalkboard Mason Jar Lid Ornaments.
*Note: The more holes you make in the lid the more powdered sugar will come out with each shake.
Then fill your mason jar with powdered sugar & enjoy!
*Note: If you don’t use powdered sugar on a daily basis, or are worried that it might get moisture in it when not in use, just add an extra mason jar lid on top of the lid with holes before screwing on the canning ring.

I have never seen the checkered Mason jar lids. Where did you find them?
To be honest I have no idea! 🙁 They came with a mason jar of jam a few years back & I can’t remember who it was that gave me this particular one. I’ll start asking around to see if I can find out for you! 🙂
