My 10 Tea-Time Books for 2016 include a few classics, biographies, & a guilty pleasure.
Happy February!
Since this is the month of love (& my birthday month), I thought I would share a few of my loves with you!
As a child I read nonstop & that is not an exaggeration. I read so much that my parents would ground me from reading, mainly because reading was what would get me into trouble.
Yes, I’m a bit of a book nerd.
I would often read well into the night (sometimes all night), even on school nights. Instead of doing my chores I use to hide & read, which was mainly why I would get into trouble. I was constantly grounded & having my books taken away from me as punishment.
It was painful!
Eventually I got smart & figured out that my parents couldn’t (or wouldn’t) ground me from reading my Bible, so when I wasn’t hiding & reading the classics (like A Midsummer Night’s Dream) I would sit out in the open & read my Bible. Smart right?
You would think that eventually I would learn to control my reading binges, but I haven’t. Even Roger has hidden books from me over the years.
But that’s ok, I still love him.
Even though my reading binges can become so drastic that I do nothing but read for days, there are times that I have reading dry spells. [Insert gasp here.]
There are two things that can happen after I finish a book, either I immediately pick up another book to keep me from going into an overly dramatic depression from the last book ending, or I feel no book can ever compare to the one I just finished so I won’t pick up another book for fear it won’t be good enough.
Which is when a reading dry spell begins.
This year I am going to attempt to find a balance between my reading dry spells & reading binges. I decided that the best way to do this was to incorporate my reading time with my daily tea-time. Which is why I’m so glad I had this opportunity to partner with Lipton Tea because it gave me the perfect reason to share my reading goals with you for 2016!
While I usually drink my herbal tea’s hot, Lipton’s Peach Mango Tea is absolutely delicious when chilled over ice. I especially love that Lipton’s herbal tea blends are combined with real ingredients to awaken the senses. The flavors are bright & beautiful!
I haven’t tried Lipton’s Cranberry Pomegranate Green Tea over ice, but it does have a light fresh taste as a warm beverage.
Since I like all of my beverages to be a little extra sweet I decided to do the same for my cup of Lipton’s Darling English Breakfast Black Tea, which has a very bold aroma & unique flavor. Once steeped I poured it over ice & added a little creamer. I think it may be my new favorite, especially because it has just the right amount of caffeine to boost my energy in the morning!
I’ll admit it, I am now addicted to Lipton’s Darling English Breakfast Black Tea!
Who would’ve guessed that black tea would become my morning tea of choice!?
Now to be truthful, I drink tea more than one time a day. I drink one cup of tea in the morning during my daily devotions & one in the afternoon. And while I don’t always sit & relax while drinking my second cup of tea, I am going to try & make an effort to start taking this 30-45 minute afternoon tea-time to read.
This way I will be allotting myself reading time 2-3 times a day & hopefully that will keep me from the reading binges & dry spells.
