Create your own New Years Matches Sign to bring in the new year with a blaze!
I am super excited about this New Years Matches Sign! Like so excited! I have been looking forward to this little craft for awhile now… And guess what!?! This New Years Matches Sign only cost me $6.00 to make!
Now I know some people will say that this is a waste… but for those of us who live where you can’t shoot off fireworks for New Years this is the perfect way to light up the new year! Growing up my friends & I use to jump in the pool at midnight, but I’m thinking this might be a warmer & more exciting way to bring in the new year!
*Note this is a fire hazard. Do not light inside your house or near anything flammable. Be prepared to immediately douse the New Years Matches Sign with a large bucket of water once the matchsticks have burned out.
What you’ll need:
Wood – I grabbed a piece from a burn pile
Hot Glue Gun with Glue
Mod Podge – Optional
Fine Silver Glitter – Optional
First, find a piece of wood & clean it off.
Next, draw the words or numbers on the wood with a pencil.
Then start hot gluing the matches to the wood. The number of matchsticks you will need will depend on how large the numbers are on your board. I bought 6 boxes of matchsticks from Dollar Tree, but I only used 5 & 1/18ish of the boxes. Oh & my board was about 14X6 inches.
Look I’m halfway done!
I then decided that it needed a little glitter…
So I found some Mod Podge, painted it on, & then dusted it with extra fine silver glitter.
I am seriously so excited about this craft! More excited than I am about seeing fireworks since this is my own little design!
Update: I decided to make a special post just for this New Years Matches Sign catching fire – check it out here.
