Create your own Sparkling Glitter Ornaments that are nonbreakable, won’t lose their sparkle, & are filled with Christmas cheer!
I have a confession to make.
I put up our first Christmas tree at the end of September.
I started listening to Christmas music at the beginning of October.
Although if you count Rise of the Guardians as a Christmas movie than technically I have watched 2 Christmas movies.
And now, just a few days before November begins, we have 3 little Christmas trees set up & lots of twinkle lights.
Ok, that was more than just one confession. But I had to come clean!
And now that you know how I have caught the holiday spirit it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that I am going to officially start Christmas on my blog today!
So prepare yourself for lots of Christmas ornament tutorials, sweet holiday treats, & me babbling about how much I love this time of year!
However, if you are not ready to join me in these festivities that’s ok too. You can always pin my Christmas projects for later & join me in celebrating whenever you are ready!
Of course the first ornament I share with you this holiday season had to be covered in glitter! Somehow I managed to go several weeks without crafting with glitter, but now there will be no holding back!
In an attempt to decrease the clutter & prepare for our move I will be doing a lot of crafting with the 100 plastic balls that I have had for over 2 years now (although now I think I only have about 25 left). I am going to create as many different Christmas ornaments as I can out of them so that they will be out of my makeshift blog/craft room. Oh & did I mention I bought a my bag of 100 soft plastic balls at Walmart for only $10!? That comes out to $0.10 each!!
And because I am using plastic balls I won’t have to worry about them breaking in the moving process next year!
I haven’t decided how many Sparkling Glitter Ornaments I want to create for our Christmas tree, Roger will probably try to hide this one… But I’m thinking a trip to Hobby Lobby is needed so I can buy more Christmasy colored glitter!
These Sparkling Glitter Ornaments are easy to make, you only need a few materials, & the sparkles will last for many more seasons to come!
Hammer & Small Nail
Christmas Ornament Hooks
Ribbon – optional
Hot Glue Gun & Glue – optional
First, create a small hole at the top of your plastic ball with the hammer & small nail. Then cut an ornament hook with your Micro Soft Wire Cutter, bend the hook in half, & stick the ends in the hole of the plastic ball.
I had to wiggle the hook ends into the hole & it stayed in really well. If need be you can always glue it in with E6000 glue.
Next, add a layer of Mod Podge to the plastic ball & then a layer of fine glitter. Let dry. Then apply a second layer of Mod Podge & glitter allowing it to dry thoroughly. Then apply a final layer of Mod Podge to seal in the glitter.
After it dried I decided to add a ribbon bow & attach it to the top with hot glue.
Then I simply added a pretty Christmas ornament wire hook & hung it on our Christmas tree!
I’d love to see how you use your Sparkling Glitter Ornaments!
